Letters from Parents
Dear Barbara:
My daughter had a wonderful time and
gained so much from the entire week of workshops and activities. She talked
about it non-stop when she got home and shared many experiences of what she had
learned. I can honestly say she was a changed person.I
could see that her self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth had grown by
leaps and bounds.
Our family has gone through some extreme
problems for the last couple of years and my daughter had suffered immensely.
Her father decided to leave me and file for divorce. This was devastating for
all of us. My daughter's whole world started to fall apart since we had
to sell our family home (along with many personal possessions) and move to a
smaller one. She felt so abandoned. Child support stopped and so did contact
with her father. I had to start working three jobs just to make ends meet.
My friend was right. "Be
The Best You" Girls Camp
was just what my daughter needed. She had some real growing experiences
during the week and came home strengthened and very upbeat. I was so grateful
she had gone. But the story doesn't end there . . .
In the fall, we received a phone call. Her
father had taken his own life. It was a tragedy and blow for the whole
family. No goodbyes were possible and many things were left unsaid. I was so
worried about how this would affect my daughter. But, she absolutely has amazed
me and has done very well considering everything she has been through.
Barbara, it is my belief that she has
done so well because of what she experienced at camp last summer. She gained
that inner strength through your program that she needed to survive the loss of
her father. Not only has she survived but she is achieving and succeeding.
Her grades are excellent and she is involved in choir at school. She will be on
the Year Book Staff next year due to her excellent grades in English. She has
tried out and hopes to be in Advanced Women's Chorus next year. When she has
disappointments, she picks herself back up and keeps on going. She has been an
inspiration for me with her positive attitude and strength. How can I possibly
thank you for helping to save my daughter's life in so many ways. Because
of what she gained through your program, she was prepared to face one of the
worst tragedies that can come to a child. Thank you from the bottom of my
heart.
Sincerely,
Patricia
